• Conduct research and develop new technologies to address the legacy of environmental problems associated with landfills in the District.
• Collect, analyze and communicate environmental information; provide reliable baselines for assessing environmental improvements in the District.
• Promote regional sharing of information resources with District municipalities to help them better manage municipal assets, plan for improvements and prepare for and combat emergencies.
